Rev. Shane Pair preach “Identity?” the third sermon in the “Sacred Selfie” series.

We live in a world that determines our identity by what we do, what we wear, where we live, who we hangout with, and the list goes on. Additionally, our self-worth is often tangled up in how we perceive others identify us; however, we are so much more than how we, or others label us. We have a true identity that transcends all of this: What is it, and how does that determine our present and future?

Rev. Shane Pair preaches “The REAL Picture” the second sermon in the “Sacred Selfie” series.

In our digital age we see selfies on social media, and hear stories of lives without blemish. The truth is we all have blemishes and struggles. God calls us to be real and examine our lives, so we can help others. Part of that is to consider the motivation for doing what we do. We will discuss who we really are and who God calls us to be.

We are honored to host a mission moment with Eric Porter of Backyard Orphans and a blessing of quilts.

As Christians, we say our identity is in Jesus, but what does that mean, and what is the implication for our daily life? When was the last time you took a “Sacred Selfie” and posted if for the whole world to see. Bring your Phone and let’s post a selfie.

Rev. Shane Pair preaches “Let’s Party?”

God calls us to party when something that is lost has been found. This finding may be a relationship that has been broken with those around us. This relationship may be a repair with those in our community we don’t understand (homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics, abusers, hoarders, the greedy, etc.) Maybe we are some of these folks. I celebrate every time I see you working to interact with those that are different than you, and I know God does too – Let’s Party.

Rev. Shane Pair preaches “Not Difficult.”

Like Naaman, we expect things to be hard and when they aren’t, we question their validity and effectiveness. God’s only requirement is obedience. Often, we keep people away because we try to make the entrance into receiving God’s grace harder than it is. We are simply called to obey and let God be God. Not that Difficult unless we make it that way. We will examine some ways God calls us to be extenders of grace to our community.

We will discuss what this means as we look at Gideon and his men.
